The Wedding

Marion has come back home to Tulsa for her mother’s wedding and is outraged to discover that her mother is going to marry Marion’s first lover, Norman. She becomes her mother’s rival, fighting and scheming to keep him out of her mother’s bed. The situation is complicated by her brother, Tommy, who doesn’t want to see anybody in his mother’s bed. Louise sees herself as a doting mother who wants her children to be happy, but when she has to choose between Norman or being a mother and living the rest of her life as “a human-shaped empty space” — Louise has no choice.
