How can I save a Play for later on? What is the Wishlist?

+

Clicking on a gold heart icon will add the selected play to your Wishlist and give you easy access to the play later on, when you are ready to look at it.  You can access all your Wishlist items from your Account Dashboard. You will find Wishlist heart icons in every flyover window while browsing our plays OR you can select the Wishlist icon from the bottom of a Play's Feature Page.  The feature page is full of great information about a play.  To open a play's feature page; simply select the square 'Page' icon from the flyover while browsing.

How do I open / access more information about the play?

+

Whilst browsing our plays, select the square 'feature page' icon from the flyover window...  As well as containing great information about a play; the feature page, will also give you access to purchase the play.

Can I purchase just the manuscript / script?

+

Yes, you can.  All our scripts are priced between $20 and $40, depending on the duration of the play. However, they are not for sale via the shopping cart.  Please contact us by email at plays@stage-write.com.au and we will contact you within 24 hours. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT, LEGALLY… The purchase price of a script permits you to print only one copy of that script. Therefore, if you need more than one copy, paper or digital, you will also need to purchase the copy rights for that script.  The copy fee, applicable for all script only purchases, is $2.00 per extra copy required.  If you need several copies – say for assessment of the play by multiple persons – it may be more economical for you to purchase the Copy Fees for the actual stage-play.  If this is the case; please let us know and if you end up purchasing the performance package for this script… we are happy to reduce your purchase price by the cost of the Copy Fees for that stage-play. You also must not perform the play in public, in part or in full, without having applied for a performance licence and paid the applicable performance royalties to the writer.  Please remember that EVERYONE needs to pay performance royalties to the Copyright owner.  This is their livelihood.  A performance licence is the only legal way in which to perform any of the plays  that are published on the Stage-Write Plays website.

Why do I need an account? – Client/Member/Customer

+

You don’t... Not unless you want to purchase a Performance Package from Stage-Write Plays.  Part of the process in determining your requirements to meet copyright laws is the gathering of information regarding your performance intentions.  This, along with other helpful information and history, is stored securely in your account so that when you are ready to upload your completed Performance Licence Application, the authorisation of your licence will be a streamlined process. If you have any questions regarding your account, please contact us at plays@stage-write.com.au

Performance Box Office Takings / Ticket Sales / Profit Making

+

If your production will be produced and/or performed by a professional theatre or drama entity – or is produced for commercial purposes (with the exception of primary and secondary schools) – your performances are considered to be for profit-making purposes and you are required to pay 10% of box office takings (ticket sales) OR the stated performance fees, whichever is the greater. Please refer to our Backstage Matters menu...  "Box Office Takings - When are they Relevant" for further information and clarification.

Does the payment of an Archival Video Fee allow me to post a recording of the performance online or on a local TV network?

+

The short answer is… No :) Payment of the Archival Video Fee does not give you permission to broadcast or post your recording online. If you would like to request this permission, please contact Stage-Write Plays via plays@stage-write.com.au. Please be aware that this will carry an additional licence that must be applied for and a fee that must be paid in full, BEFORE any such broadcasting is carried out.

What are my obligations when advertising my Stage-Play or Musical?

+

There really are only 2 binding requirements, everything else is up to you. 1. The author/s name must be displayed clearly on all production material and on all posters and programs. 2. An endorsement must be displayed on all posters and programs in a reasonably noticeable position. The endorsement must read “Produced with the permission of Stage-Write Plays, Australia (www.stage-write.com.au)"

Do I have to pay Royalty Fees if we’re not charging admission?

+

Yes, you sure do.  Charging, or not charging, an admission fee has nothing to do with whether or not a royalty fee is due and payable.

Can I get permission to perform a play excerpt at a festival or competition?

+

For school theatrical competitions (and only for school theatrical competitions) the performance of an excerpt from a play - that is less than 10 minutes in duration - is currently royalty free… UNLESS otherwise stated by the copyright holder.  The only requirement is that you purchase the script and pay copy fees if you require more than one copy of the script.  If you would like to perform a 10 minute, or less, excerpt from a play AND it is for a school theatrical competition; please contact us at plays@stage-write.com.au and we will be in touch within 24 hours.

Can I copy or distribute your scripts and illustration materials without a licence?

+

No, you may not.  Unauthorized copying or distribution of our scripts and illustrative materials is a breach of copyright laws.  In order to be able to legally copy any materials on the Stage-Write Plays website you must pay the applicable copy fee prior to any copying or distribution.

Can I change or remove adult language?

+

In order to change or remove any adult language, you must receive prior permission from the writer to do so.  In most cases, if a play contains adult language, Stage-Write Plays has already obtained permission from the writer on your behalf.  If this is the case, your script will declare this information in the opening pages of your script.  If you do not see a declaration in relation to adult content, please contact us at plays@stage-write.com.au and we will touch base with you within 24 hours.

How do I purchase a play and download the materials/product?
