Danny Dice

Danny Dice ostensibly teaches languages to students aged 11 to 18. This said, recognising that life is hard even for young people in wealthy countries, Danny sneaks snippets of life wisdom into lessons when he can. His playwriting epiphany came when he stumbled on YouTube videos from The School of Life whose co-founders include the modern-day philosopher Alain de Botton. Much of Danny Dice’s published writing is under pseudonyms and includes life writing pieces published in The Guardian and previously in The Times Educational Supplement (TES). Danny believes we need to prioritise the teaching and development of emotional intelligence from an early age since it is surprisingly rare despite society’s boundless technological advances. The majority of the world’s population therefore struggle to form deep and meaningful relationships. Yet rewarding relationships are key to giving life meaning. Danny believes the first step to better understanding ourselves and others is to laugh at some of the ridiculous aspects around long term relationships. These include unrealistic expectations caused partly by most couples wanting very different things; entering the relationship relatively unthinkingly; and skirting around sex despite believing ours is a sexually liberated age. AIBU? was longlisted for the 2021 Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing. Danny hopes to attract directors and producers ready to embrace his unconventional and original content and style of theatre. 3 Things is written in the same offbeat spirit. Danny’s other previous achievements of sorts include selling magic tricks in Harrods and racing against Haile Gebreselassie in Berlin when Gebreselassie broke the world marathon record. Danny finished a mere 10,000 or so places behind Gebreselassie.
