In plain terms; Copyright is “the right to copy”.  Copyright applies to all original scripts and illustrative materials (including music).  Copyright, generally speaking, is for the life of the writer plus 70 years… But it really does depend on which part of the world you live in.  After Copyright expires, the works become part of the public domain and anyone can use them for whatever purpose they want.

ALL scripts on the Stage-Write Plays website are original, and are fully protected by Copyright law.  All rights are reserved. No portion of any stage play may be reproduced in any form without permission from the publisher.  All manuscripts on the stage-write plays website are sold subject to the condition that they will not be distributed, in any way, without permission from the publisher.

A performance licence is the only legal way in which to obtain this permission and perform any of the plays, or copy any of the scripts, that are published on our website.  Any Performance Package you purchase from Stage-Write Plays will require a licence and fees will be payable.  The processing of all licences and fees required will form part of your purchasing process.  So, don’t worry about not knowing what you need and don’t need.  We will ensure that you are complying with Copyright laws.

Any concerns you may have regarding copyright on any of the stage productions listed on the Stage-Write Plays website should be directed to “plays@stage-write.com.au” we will get back to you at our very earliest opportunity, usually within 24 hours.

Please refer to our Backstage Matters menu to find out more about licences and fees payable.
