In this Monty Pythonesque romp, the central figure is the self-absorbed, inept Governor of Gaza, Recto – who, abetted by his fearful fawning slave Zalduck, obsessively pursues the beautiful but vain and calculating Delilah who, in turn, has her lascivious eyes on the woman-chasing reluctant up-and-coming champion of the Israelites… Samson. All played out with brisk, comic pacing.
